LG Electronics has achieved a record-breaking financial performance in the second quarter, driven by substantial demand for its home appliances, vehicle components, and HVAC systems. The company revealed a preliminary operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, equivalent to $1.04 billion, marking a remarkable 146.9% surge compared to the previous year. Additionally, its revenue soared by 14.9% to reach 23.83 trillion won, exceeding market forecasts.
In the first half of the year, LG set new company records with revenue hitting 47.56 trillion won and operating profit reaching 3.25 trillion won. The impressive results were underpinned by increased sales across major business sectors, better cost management, growth in subscription services, the expansion of webOS, and stronger online sales performance.
The company’s home appliance, vehicle solutions, and HVAC divisions were pivotal in driving this growth. An uptick in demand for high-end home appliances, automotive infotainment systems, and cooling solutions, particularly in Europe amid recent heatwaves, significantly contributed to their robust performance.
In addition to these positive results, LG continues to invest in future growth areas, underscoring its commitment to innovation. The company is focusing on AI-driven data center cooling technologies and the development of advanced robotics components, highlighting its proactive approach to harnessing new technological advancements.
